Sampson Frizzell , JEAN HAZEL (NEE MILLER)

Oct 17, 1924 – August 11, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Jean, August 11, 2021 at the age of 96.

Jean was born in Davidson to Julia and David Miller. She grew up in Davidson with her brothers Hugh and Don.

Upon completion of High School, Jean went to business school in Moose Jaw, then returned to Davidson and worked as a book keeper.

In 1946, Jean married Robert Sampson and raised their 3 children on a farm near Davidson –David (Connie) Sampson, Guy (Colleen) Sampson and Julie (Ernie) Brock.

Robert passed away October 1966. Jean and her children continued to run the family farm.

Jean married John Frizzell March 1974 and they resided in Albany Oregon and later moved to The Dalles, Oregon.

Upon retirement, Jean and John moved back to Davidson in 2000. Jean and John sponsored a Vietnamese family, to come and start a new life in the United States.

Jean was always known to the whole extended family as “Mother”.

Sadly, John passed away in September 2004.

Jean was the Matriarch of the family and was active in the community for many of her younger years. She was a talented pianist, organist, seamstress and knitter.

Although she never could quite grasp how to operate a computer, she could take apart and reassemble a 10,000 piece knitting machine like nobody’s business.

She was a wonderful cook and the love of good food was passed down to her family. She will always be remembered especially for her Brownies.

Jean is survived by brother Don (Elaine) Miller, her 3 children, 7 grandchildren Robert Sampson, Lisa Oaks, Tony Sampson, Curtis Brock, Kelly Katalinic, Justin Sampson and Kristin Sampson and, 14 great grandchildren.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, brother Hugh Miller, sister in law Carol Miller, and granddaughter Laura Sampson.

Jean was loved and will be missed by all her family. Her greatest joy was all her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

A private family internment will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Davidson Communities in Bloom.

Special Thank You to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Davidson Health Centre for the wonderful care and Thank you to Todd Lockwood at Hanson’s Funeral Home.
