Clare Dorothy Goodhead Morton-Moncrieff died March 8, 2014 in Sykesville, Maryland.
Born January 23, 1923 in Plymouth, England to Charlotte Cadd Goodhead and Percy Goodhead. She married Bernard Arthur Morton-Moncrieff September 26, 1945, and immigrated to Canada July 19, 1957.
She is survived by her daughter, Jill D. Morton-Moncrieff Sears of Sykesville, MD, as well as two sons, Peter B. Morton-Moncrieff and his wife Versill of Edmonton, Alta. and their two daughters Velana and Clare; and George S. Morton-Moncrieff and his wife Jane of Julian, PA. Clare is also survived by siblings: Percy Goodhead and his wife Nester; James Goodhead and his wife Joyce, all of Plymouth, England; June Naish and her husband Ken of East Sussex, England and Christine Beresford and her husband Russell of Bedfordshire, England.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard Arthur Morton-Moncrieff and her sister Barbara Crocker who resided in East Sussex, England before her death.
Clare was very proud of her service to England during the Second World War as a member of the Land Army from the age of 18 until her marriage. She also enjoyed her membership in the Women’s Institute (W.I.) She served as Chef at the Davidson Hospital from 1970 through 1995 then retired. She was fondly remembered as “Monty” among friends and co-workers.
She was a member of the Anglican Church where she loved singing in the church choir.
