SCOLLAR, ELLEN D.

August 4, 1953 – March 19, 2023

Ellen D. Hall was born in Jansen Sask. on Aug. 4, 1934, the eldest of seven. She was raised and educated in Craik. After working at the grocery store in Craik and telephone office in Regina, Ellen married Sterling Schollar July 16, 1953. They moved from the Ross Exelby farm to SW10-24-29 in 1955 where they are now.

Ellen, having worked alongside her parents, carried on the routine with her husband. Sterling and Ellen raised their family of four on a self-sustaining farm. Ellen worked as a waitress and cook in restaurants, completing her career as cook at the Craik Health Centre. Ellen was always busy, helping as a Sunday School Teacher, involved in 4-H, a member of the hospital auxiliary and helping in the community whenever asked. Ellen also enjoyed neighborhood birthday club, card parties, and bus tours.

Ellen was a hard worker; everyone was important and no one ever left the farm hungry. She loved her 13 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Grandma made many lunches just in case someone got hungry on their way home. It is said that some lunches were eaten before Aylesbury. So many special memories, which Ellen held very close.

Ellen was predeceased by her husband of 67 years on April 5, 2021. A graveside Celebration of Ellen’s Life Funeral Service was held on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Craik Community Cemetery in Craik Sask. For those so wishing, memorial donations in memory of Ellen may be directed to the Moose Jaw Humane Society, the Craik Cemetery or to a charity of choice.
