Glubis, Ronald James

May 1, 1948 – June 24, 2020

Ron, age 72, passed away on June 24, 2020 at the family farm surrounded by family.

Ron is lovingly remembered by his children, Ryan (Amanda) Glubis, Allan (Barb) Glubis, Darelle (Jay) Church, Lesley Glubis, Lynsey (Jim) Glubis; their 12 grandchildren, Nicole, Kaitlyn, Alyssa, Kyla, Jake, Luke, Dylan, Ashton, Samantha, Jorja, Eric and Lily; and 1 great granddaughter, Chayce. He is predeceased by his wife Jean Glubis; parents, Jerry and Katherine Glubis; parents-in-law, William and Candace Turnbull; his grandson, Parker Glubis.

At Ron’s request, a private family Celebration of Life will be held at the family farm.

Faul, Agnes Louise (Purves)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Agnes on Sunday June 14, 2020 at the age of 96 at the Craik Health Centre where she had resided since 2016.

Agnes Louise (Purves) Faul was born March 27, 1924 in Saskatoon to Marguerite & George Purves. She grew up on the family farm west of Craik with her 6 brothers & sisters and attended the Holmsdale School. In 1944 she moved to Calgary and worked in a laundry and the National Bakery. In January of 1946 she married George Faul in Belleville, ON.  A son Wayne Douglas was born in Calgary on March 21, 1952. In March of 1954 they returned to Craik to assist Dad Purves, who was in failing health, with the farm. In 1960 they purchased the Kemsley farm where a new home was built in 1966. Agnes was very involved in activities in the area, belonging to the Craik United Church, Sweet Adelines, and Birthday Club. Her yard and garden were a masterpiece. She loved to crochet and had many doilies. Even after George’s passing she remained on the farm for 13 years until no longer possible. She moved to Mulberry Estates in Moose Jaw where she resided for 6 years until it was necessary to go into the Craik Regional Health Centre where she resided for 4 years until her passing.

Agnes was predeceased by her parents George & Marguerite Purves, her husband George in 1993, brothers Edward (Evelyn) Purves, Ken (Martina) Purves, sisters Joey (Andy) McCall, Sister Margaret, and Bernice (Bunny) John Stulberg.  Agnes is survived by her brother John (Mary Ann) Purves, also her beloved nieces and nephews Joan Brooks, Doris (Glen) Dieno, Todd (Soraya) Purves, Tanya (Craig) McLaughlin, Diane (Bill) Stevenson, Sharon (Matthew)
Bruce, Brian (Sandi) Purves, Glen (Marla) Purves, Marlene Purves, Irene Purves and many great nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19 a memorial service will be planned at a later date. If desired memorial contributions to the Craik and District Health Centre or the Craik Cemetery Fund would be sincerely appreciated by the family. We are extremely grateful to Jane Ward and Sharon & Ralph
Schollar for their friendships and many visits and assistance in taking care of Agnes’ needs in the past years. Your visits meant a lot to her and her family appreciates all that you have done. We are happy that you were able to have outdoor visits with her the week before her passing!

Bennett, Alma Louise (nee Geiger)

1932 – 2020

Alma Bennett of Davidson SK passed away Monday June 22, 2020.

At Alma’s request no memorial or funeral service will be held.

Memorial donations in memory of Alma may be directed to the Davidson Health Trust Fund (cheques payable to the Town of Davidson) or to a charity of choice.

Morrison, Justina

April 27, 1925 – June 24, 2020

Justina (Rempel) Morrison passed away peacefully on June 24, 2020 in the Davidson Health Centre at the age of 95.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Andre LePoudre (1954) and is survived by their children Wayne Morrison (Karen) and Wendy Morrow (Roger). She was predeceased by her second husband Jack Morrison (2007) and survived by their children Les
(Gail), Reid (Melanie), and Monica (Les). She was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law Debby, her siblings Bill, Henry, Frank and Kay Klassen as well as many in-laws.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children along with Bruce Rempel (Cheryl); her grandchildren Kara, Jan (Stacey), Jessica, Michael, Angie (Jim), Stacey, Derek (Christina), Brett, Kylie, Johnny, David (Lauren), Zachary and Alana (Chris); her great-grandchildren Breanne, Erica, Christopher, Stajan, Jax, Jade, Taylor, Benjamin, Justine and Ella. She is also survived by her sisters Marion Schweigert (John), Rita Dixon and brothers John (Stella) and Jake; sisters-in-law Sue Rempel, Leona Morrison and Elsie Morrison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Justina was born in Ekaterinowka, Ignatjew, Russia and emigrated to Canada as a baby settling with her parents Maria (Bueckert) and Henry Rempel in the Davidson area. Jack and Justina were married October 10, 1956 and farmed in the Davidson area until 1978 when they moved to Saskatoon where they were both employed and later retired. Justina was a 4-H leader for many years, enjoyed sewing, gardening, the Ladies Aid Group and following her kids and grandkids activities wherever they would take them. She loved her blended family gatherings and welcomed everyone.

A private family grave-side memorial will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens on June 27. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.hillcrestmemorial.ca

Holland, Arlene

Gladys “Arlene” Holland (nee Farr-Catton) passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 16, 2020 at Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon at the age of 92 after a long battle with dementia.

Arlene was born on March 1, 1928 to Myrla Catton who passed away shortly after the birth of her daughter. Arlene was adopted by her maternal grandparents and was raised in Hanley with her Mom’s siblings (all of whom preceded her in death).

She had her first date with Jim Holland when she was in Grade 6 and married him on August 16, Together they raised five children and built a farm and a life in Hanley.

Before she was overtaken by dementia, Arlene was a vibrant, independent and feisty woman who did whatever she set her mind to. She spent 12 years working at the Royal Bank in Hanley and was very involved in the community. She was a member of the United Church Choir, Eastern Star, and Circle for many years where she was known to take on leadership roles. She loved being the centre of attention and participated in a number of Community Dinner Theatre Productions over the years.

Arlene enjoyed curling, gardening, golfing, travelling, socializing, and cheering loudly for the Hanley Senior Hockey Team that Jim coached for many years.

Arlene will be remembered by her 5 children: Betty Lynn (Lorne) Peek, Elaine (Barry) Klimosko, Rod (Darla) Holland, Jody (Darryl) Libke, and Leanne (Jerry) Rose; her 10 grandchildren: Craig,
Derek (Candice), Nash (Stacie), Evan (April), Shea (Stacy), Caylin, Kenzie (Dane), Robyn (Monty), Blake, and Avery. She also leaves behind her 8 great grandchildren: Grayson, Kassie, Bailey,
Fallyn, Thea, Charlee, Ali, Sterling, and Nyla.

Arlene will be reunited with Jim, her husband of 52 years at a small family service at the Hanley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hanley United Church.

The family would like to thank the community of Hanley for the care and concern for mom the last few years she lived there. Thank-you also to the staff at Oliver Lodge for taking care of mom and helping her feel as comfortable and loved as possible these last three months and especially her last few days; it is truly appreciated.

Sanderson, Mary

Mary Sanderson (nee Crawley), 89, of Davidson, Saskatchewan passed away on Saturday, May 2nd, 2020.

Mary was born on May 31st, 1930 in Kamloops, BC. She received her teaching degree in Caronport, Saskatchewan, and taught for many years. On July 11th, 1953, she married her soulmate John Sanderson. They raised two daughters, Terry and Patricia.

Mary is predeceased by her husband, John Sanderson and her mother, Dagmar Crawley (nee Christopherson). She is survived by her children, Terry Sanderson and Patricia Diebel; son-in-law, Perry Diebel; grandchildren, Kenneth and Danika (Philemon Nussbaumer) Diebel; great-granddaughter, Clair Diebel-Walter; brother-in-law, George (Joan) Sanderson, sister-in-law’s, Lorraine (Jon) Harder and Esther Neill and cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Mary may be direct to the Davidson Health Care Foudation, Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church or the local charity of their choice.

Celebration of Mary’s life will be determined in the future.
