1944 – 2018
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Juliann Sorotski on July 13, 2018, after a brief battle with cancer. Juliann was born on February 28, 1944 to Joseph and Antonia Matycio. She attended school in Young and then graduated from teacher’s college in Saskatoon. She began a short teaching career before marrying Michael Sorotski on July 14, 1962. Together, they raised five children: Sheree, Glenda, Michelle, Darren and Corelie (Teaka). Juliann worked tirelessly alongside Michael with the family business and farming operations. Even though the farm and business kept her busy, she still found time to serve as a substitute teacher and on the local school board for many years. She always participated as an active member of St. Andrew’s Parish and the CWL. Juliann was one of a kind, and a genuine lady; at all times putting others before herself, ready to lend a helping hand. Juliann was predeceased by her husband Michael; infant daughter Louise; daughter Sheree (missing); daughter-in-law Donna Sorotski; parents Joseph and Antonia Matycio; parents in-law Steve and Anna Sorotski; brother Gordon Matycio, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Juliann is survived by her children Glenda, Michelle, Darren and Corelie (Corey White); grandchildren Lucas, Lauren and Lana Fertuck, Kadence and Keaton Kish, Lexi and Jada White, Junell Sorotski; great-grandson Chase Fertuck; sisters Lillian Tisnic, Josephine Ackerman, Grace (Joe Obee), Gladys Rue, Marion (Walter Srochenski) and Virginia (Arnold Frey); brothers Victor (Iris), Roger, Ronald (Janet) and Ernest (Bette) Matycio. For friends so wishing, memorial donations may be directed to St. Andrew’s church fund or the Davidson Health Centre. The Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday, July 19 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Parish, Kenaston, Sask. Arrangements were entrusted to Hanson’s Funeral Home, Davidson, Sask.
