Heinrich (Ubell), PAULINE FRANCES

In the early hours of May 29, 2021 Polly – surrounded by her children – peacefully passed in to eternity.

We’re sure she’s already walked in to the party, hugged everyone at least once and passed a plate of food (for the second time!) to all.

Polly was born the 6th of 9 children to Justinus Ubell and Mary Wagner in the Kerrobert Hospital on March 15, 1937.

Raised on a farm in the Luseland area, and speaking only German until she started school, she was always very connected with her siblings.

In 1958 she moved to Craik to work as a nurse’s aide and soon after, Davidson – which proved to seal her fate as a resident of the community and later (in ‘retirement’) the town. Shortly after arriving in Davidson she met her future husband Ray and they were married 6 months later (October 21, 1959).

The union stood strong for 55 years – in part for sure because he loved her Flapper Pie – until his passing (2015).

She continued to work as a nurse’s aide off and on throughout her married life until retirement in 2000. Polly made this community her home and her heart in so many ways – by contributing endless baking for sales at the Davidson Seniors Centre, Catholic Women’s League or her parish, caring with a thoughtful card or phone call, providing whatever you needed when camping (at Craven it’s said her 1968 14 foot Scamper camper must have been the ‘basement model’ as she seemed to have anything you needed in that thing), and just adding to the caring atmosphere of this community.

It has been said that no one will know what time of year we are
in without Polly’s seasonal decorations.

She was not fond of being on the water or boating and she may not have had a passion for the family fishing trips, but would never be left behind. She did enjoy the time alone and could be found sweeping the wood steps of the cabin and eating sunflower seeds when we returned.

When not in her garden, yard or kitchen, Polly could be found at the card table adding up your points before you’d laid your last card or, barring that, she’d be out in a field trucking grain, providing a tailgate meal (turkey and all the fixings, never less), or both – at the same time.

Polly wanted everyone together, all the time. Nothing brought her more satisfaction and pleasure than to see her family greeting each other with a hearty hug.

Polly is survived by her four children – Grace (Ian; and their children Adrian [Caitlin, great grandson Tristan], Nicole [Dave], and Erik), Arlene (Doug), Nonie, Mike (Susanna; and their children Geena, Jacob and Reggie).

Polly is also survived by sister Rose and brothers Adolph and George. Predeceased by an infant daughter – Betty Catherine (1962) and her husband, Raymond Deidrich (2015). She is also predeceased by sister Wilma and brothers Jacob, Joseph, Justinus Jr., William.

Wherever she is, we know she’s not joined the party empty handed – likely she’s providing the cinnamon buns and is dancing to Charley Pride. Don’t ask her to turn down the volume – she won’t.

Didur, Ladimer (Laddy)

March 29, 1929 – May 9, 2021

Born and raised in Saskatchewan in the Kenaston area, Laddy started farming in the Simpson area in the early 1950’s.

Laddy’s major life events included being baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1955 and marrying Betty (Atz) in June 1956.

Her death in 1982 caused him great sorrow and he relied on the support of relatives and friends to help him cope.

After farming for most of his life, in November 2013, Laddy moved to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, to be closer to Kim and his family.
Although Laddy was able to enjoy his own company (and a good book), he loved his family and being with people.

Visiting with friends and family, playing baseball and doing many other outdoor activities brought him pleasure. He was willing to lend a hand whether it was for furnace repair, welding, butchering, seeding, harvesting, haying, or just providing a listening ear.

Energetic, practical, hard-working and conscientious, he saw beauty in creation and worked to beautify wherever he lived.

He learned to know the Creator through his study of the Bible. God’s promise of a resurrection to a paradise earth (John 5:28, 29) was close to his heart and he would share that hope with those who were interested.

Laddy will be sadly missed by his children: Cindy (Adam) Siwicki; Kim
(Teresa) Didur; and Shana (Greg) Lobb; his grandsons and great-
grandchildren: Kalin and Adrianna Didur (Logan and Summer); Zachary and Adeline Didur (Lorelai and Autumn); and Benjamin Didur; in-laws Les McDonald, Lois Didur, Ted Buchan, John and Bev Kaay, Lucien and Bonnie Demers, as well as nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents Fred and Nellie Didur, his wife
Betty, siblings Olga Tisnic, Sophie McDonald, John Didur, Matt Didur, Nettie Buchan.

Peardon, Murray Dean

Oct. 4, 1950 – Apr. 24, 2021

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Murray Dean Peardon on April 24th, 2021 in the Palliative Care Suite at Outlook Hospital after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

He is survived by many loved ones including his wife Heather, children Christy Norrish, Carey (Dax) Langedahl, Jody (Jeff)
Stevenson, Ryan (Jenn) Peardon, stepson Garrett (Meagan) Saxton, grandchildren Jaden and Tayshia Norrish, Taylor and Riley Langedahl, Chase and Aubrey Stevenson, Jayla and Harper Peardon, and great grandchildren Jersey and Benson Langedahl, parents, Lyman and Fern Peardon, brother Deryl (Barbara) Peardon, sisters Faye (Warren) Ganes, Lynne (Steve) Knutson, Trish (Jeff McAdam) Peardon, mother in law Kathleen Britnell, brothers in-laws Bev
(Dorota) Bentley, Tony (Carol) Britnell, Wes Britnell and Marwin Britnell, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Cindy, brothers Gary and Micheal Peardon, mother in law Phyllis Gordon, fathers in law Charles Gordon, Wilbur Pollock and Roger Britnell.

Dean was born on October 4, 1950 at Outlook Union Hospital. He was raised on the family farm just west of Loreburn, SK.

He attended his schooling in Loreburn and later attended the
University of Saskatchewan where he received his degree in Vocational Agriculture. He returned to Loreburn to farm with his family.

In 1972 he met Cindy Gordon of Saskatoon. They were married in July of 1973 and began their family with the birth of their first child in 1974.

Dean was very active in the community serving many years on boards with Sask Wheat Pool, Loreburn School, Credit Union and he
was a member of the Loreburn Lions Club. He was the acting president at the time of his passing. He was also an avid curler and played on the Loreburn Wolves fastball team for many years. Dean was also seen wearing the stripes on ice in the frigid air of the Loreburn Arena for many years. As the kids aged and became involved in their sports, he and Cindy travelled the entire province to cheer them on. The big van was always on the road.

This continued with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. In
2013, Dean and Cindy celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Shortly after, Cindy lost her battle with cancer. Dean spent his time with each of his children and still pursued his love for farming with the Dodds crew.

Dean met Heather in 2016 and they were married in July 2019. Together they enjoyed travelling throughout the province attending grandkids sporting events and spending time with friends and
family.

Dean and Heather worked together making improvements to the Brick House, building a garage and renovating the kitchen. In the summer the yard became a campground for many family members and friends.

It was Dean and Heather’s honor to provide assistance for Fern and Lyman to move back to their home on the farm during the pandemic. Their selfless act and commitment allowed his parents to be able to
spend quality time together with each other and their family.

Everyone who loved Dean knew of his passion for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Maybe for Dean, this will be “their year”. Dean will fondly be remembered as the gentle and caring man with a smile for everyone.

The family would like to extend their gratitude for the extraordinary care and compassion at the Outlook and District Health Centre during Dean’s short stay in Palliative Care.

A private celebration of Dean’s life will be held on Saturday May 1st in Loreburn.

For those wishing, donations may be made to the Village of Loreburn – LCS Playground, Box 177 Loreburn, SK S0H 2S0 in memory of Dean.

Arrangements are in the care of Hanson’s Funeral Home of Davidson.
