It is with heavy hearts that the family of Roy Tweet, formerly of Hanley, announce his passing at the Davidson Health Centre.
Left to mourn is his loving wife of 72 years, Lillian, his four children, Sharon Wilkes, Rick (Brenda), Kim (Stephen) Fenner and Pat (Les) Siroski, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, also several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Peter and Bertha, his brother Melvin (Juanita), his sisters, Hilda (Murl) Heath, Etta (Mervyn) Barlow, Alice (John) Guy, Shirley (Clarence) Wick, Donnee Baxter, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lylia and Don McGregor, brother-in-laws, Bill (Jessie) McGregor, Ken (Ruby) McGregor, Ron Creed, sisters-in-law, Gerry Newman, and Edith Gould and son-in-law, Len Wilkes.
Roy was born in Kenaston, where he lived and attended school. He started farming at an early age and joined the air force in 1942. After serving a brief time, he returned home to the family farm due to his father’s illness. In 1946 he married the love of his life, Lillian McGregor, and they raised their four children. He continued to farm until 1981 when they moved to Hanley.
He loved sports including golf, hockey and curling but especially playing ball with gumbo centre. He was a 4-H leader for numerous years, a member of the Hanley Fire Department and a lifetime Legion Member.
The funeral service was held in the Hanley Centennial Hall on Friday, November 23rd at 2:00 pm. Arrangements by Hanson’s Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the Hanley Fire Department or to Teen Challenge.
