Mrs. Doris Mary Tripps of Imperial, Sask. (formerly of Penzance and Holdfast Districts) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 just one month shy of her 100th birthday at the Long Lake Valley Integrated Health Care Facility in Imperial, Sask.
Doris was predeceased by her parents, Percy and Ethel Rayner; her loving husband, Victor Tripps in 1982; her son, Douglas in 2002 and Doug’s life partner Evelyn in June 2011; three sisters, Dorothy Palmer, Daisy Rowe and Marion Stratton and three brothers, Charles, Bob and John Rayner.
Doris leaves to mourn her loving family: daughter, Marilyn (Joe) Koza of Imperial, Sask.; sons, Milton (Cathy) Tripps of Penzance, Sask. and Orville Tripps (Donna Dermott) of Liberty, Sask.; grandchildren, Andrew (Michelle) Tripps, Kelly (Cindy) Tripps, George Tripps, Shirley (Douglas) Jamieson, Connie (Kelvin) Drimmie, Scott (Sherry) Koza, Daryn Koza, Kyle (Ginger) Koza, Cara (Howard) Nelson, Paul Tripps, Mark Tripps and Kristen Kuntz; great-grandchildren, Daniel Tripps, Michael Tripps, Shaun Jamieson, Amber Koza Drimmie, Nicole Koza, Joshua Koza, Gabrielle Koza, Walker Koza, Cash Koza and Max Nelson. Doris also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Doris enjoyed all sports, especially softball and curling, both sports she still enjoyed watching on T.V. and was a staunch Blue Jays fan.
Doris married Victor Tripps on April 13, 1936 and they farmed east of Penzance, Sask. They remained on the farm until retiring to Holdfast in 1978, where Doris lived until she was 99 years and then she moved to the Long Lake Valley Integrated Health Care Facility in Imperial, Sask. on April 4, 2011.
Doris was well known for her contributions to the United Church and was a choir member for over 75 years. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, dancing and walking. She enjoyed her morning coffee with friends at the Holdfast Cafe. Her greatest joy was her family, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.
The Celebration of Doris’s Life Funeral Service will be held at the Penzance Community Hall, Penzance, Sask. on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. (the exact day of her 100th birthday) with Worship Leader Hilda Dale officiating.
A family interment service will follow the church service.
