AGT Centre Dedication Kicks off Davidson Days

On behalf of the Town of Davidson, town councillor Arlene Low and Murad Al-Katib cut the ribbon on a sign acknowledging his successes and the contributions he and his company AGT Foods have made to the community. The sign is located next to the AGT Centre, so named for the $225,000 funding towards maintaining and improving the recreational facility .

Lloyd, Murray

The family of Murray Lloyd, a longtime resident of Davidson, are saddened to announce that he passed away on June 15, 2019 at Davidson Health Centre.

Murray was born on Dec. 19, 1936 in Cutknife, Sask. His parents Walter and Margaret farmed at Adanac and Pense before moving to Davidson in 1948 to open a service station. When the highway changed in 1954 they opened Macleod’s Store. Murray started in the store at that time. After the retirement of their parents, Murray and brother Harold continued operating the store until 1985.

Murray was very community minded. He was a member of the Kinsmen Club and Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was a volunteer driver and enjoyed curling. He also fixed many sewing machines and bikes.

Murray leaves to mourn Betty, his wife of 59 years; children Glennda (Paul) Maatman, Melody Rostie, David (Jan) Lloyd, Vaughn (Richelle) Lloyd; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; in-laws Dennis and Pat Lucki, Alice and Lynden Zimmer, Gerry and Rhonda Lucki and Milton Schilling as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends.

Murray was predeceased by his parents Walter and Margaret Lloyd, his brother Harold, sister-in-law Janet, in-laws Cliff and Margaret Lucki, brother-in-law Don Lucki, sisters-in-law Sheila Lucki and Sandra Schilling.

The funeral service was held in Davidson Sacred Heart Catholic Church on June 21, 2019. Bishop David Ashdown officiated assisted by Rev. Tracy Taylor. Hanson’s Funeral Home of Davidson was in care of arrangements. For those so wishing, memorial donations in memory of Murray may be directed to Davidson Fire Department.
