George Goethals of Moose Jaw, formerly of the Imperial/Davidson area, passed away July 4, 2011 at the age of 88. George was born June 6, 1923 to Jules and Irma Goethals. He was born and raised in the Davidson area. He took over the family farm in 1962. He also was an implement salesman for Smith Roles in Saskatoon. On November 25, 1952 he married Irene Schnurr, and they had three children, Julian George born in 1954, Kenneth Henry in 1957, and Darlene Beatrice in 1965. George and Irene built a new house in Davidson in 1986 and sold the farm in 1991. In 2008, George retired to Moose Jaw and lived with his daughter Darlene. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, travelling, and spending time with his family and friends. Predeceased by his wife Irene, sons George and Kenneth, and sister Mary Remmington, George will be sadly missed by his daughter Darlene; daughter-in-law Deb (Jim Fincaryk); grandchildren Theo Goethals and Jorde Goethals (Jodi McMillan); sister Sally O’Brodovitch, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service was held at W. J. Jones and Son Chapel on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Father Rick Krofchek officiated. Interment will take place at the Imperial Cemetery at a later date.
