With great love and sadness, the family of Olive Dean announces her passing. Olive was born on Nov. 30, 1943 in Davidson, Sask. She passed away peacefully Dec. 23, 2011 in St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, Sask. She was survived by her mother Ruth Chester and her loving husband of 34 years, Lorne Dean.
Together Lorne and Olive raised Julie-Ann Lechman (husband Garry, children Chad, Amanda, Colin, Kyle and Jordan), Laurie-Lyn Vandenaweele (husband Ken, children Charla and Cayla), Daryl Dean (wife Sandy, children Ashley and Hayley), Shari Lechman (fiance Rod Hendersen, children Britney and Logan), and Cory Dean (wife Dixie, children Bryce, Chase-Lyn and Quayden). Her brothers were Lloyd Chester, Larry (Susan) and Everett (Glenda); also sister-in-law Dorothy Penner (Corny) and brother-in-law Jack Dean (Marjorie), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father Delbert Chester, her mother-in-law Maggie Dean and father-in-law Jeff Dean.
For 29 years Olive and Lorne lived on the family farm halfway between Elbow and Davidson. In 2006 they retired to Davidson where they took up chasing the grandchildren around their house and cheering them on at their events. Family was the centre of Olive’s world.
The family of Olive would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Lang, the EMS team (Adrian, Jim and Kelly), lab technician (Dana) and nurses (Ruth and Gloria) of the Davidson Health Centre. Also, a huge thanks to the doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists of the Intensive Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit and Fifth Floor Medicine of St. Paul’s Hospital.
