Milan Puckett (Storey) 1928-2025)

January 6, 1928 – May 17, 2025

Mom was the third child and second daughter born to Andrew and Eleanor Storey on January 6, 1928. She was the only child of the five not born on the farm east of Girvin. Mom never asked her mother why, but there were obviously medical issues at birth. She attended Girvin School through to graduation in 1945. The farm was less than two miles east of Girvin, so she and her 4 other siblings usually walked to school. In the winter, her Dad used horse and sleigh. Mom attended Normal School in Moose Jaw in late 1945 and in January 1946 was assigned to teach at a one-room school house near Kisbey, Sask. My Mom and Dad started dating in early 1942 and then Dad joined the Royal Canadian Navy in January 1943. They wrote each other often and Mom waited for Dad`s return in late 1945. They were married in December of 1946. Mom kept sub-teaching at the local rural schools and working in retail stores in Davidson. On St. Patrick`s Day 1958, Lorna came along and on Valentine`s Day 1962, I suppose I (Clark) came along… I don`t recall! Dad and Mom lived in Davidson and grain farmed 6 miles east of Girvin. I recall only the happiest of memories growing up amongst the Davidson and Girvin communities. When Lorna and I were well into our teens, Mom, always very strong and independent, became the first lady to drive a 60 passenger school bus in this area. She then joined Davidson Town Council in the mid 1970`s followed by serving as the first lady Mayor of Davidson from 1980-1988. She believed in progress for Davidson and achieved many improvements. She was a devoted, loving and truly a great Mom and later grandmother and great grandmother. Her cooking was the best in western Canada! She kept a spotless home while also being a great member of many community boards and charities. She was our everything… a tower of strength… a shining light of the greatest generation. God bless you Mom….
