Here is Doug Stephen and his two grandsons Colby and Nevan Johnson during a recent fishing trip. In two hours, they caught eight fish on July 5 from the shore at Craik.
Dylan Dieno can barely hold this whopper of a walleye he caught while fishing on Last Mountain Lake near Etter’s Beach Wednesday, July 10. Dylan was fishing from the boat with his papa (Garnet Dieno), Hook and Garvin. Dylan was the best fisherman on the boat that day, having caught his limit before Papa, Hook and Garvin even got a bite. Dylan used a Hot ‘N Tot lure to land this walleye.
We sure enjoy seeing all these big fish.

The family of Murray Lloyd, a longtime
resident of Davidson, are saddened to announce that he passed away on June 15,
2019 at Davidson Health Centre.
Murray was born on Dec. 19, 1936 in
Cutknife, Sask. His parents Walter and Margaret farmed at Adanac and Pense
before moving to Davidson in 1948 to open a service station. When the highway
changed in 1954 they opened Macleod’s Store. Murray started in the store at
that time. After the retirement of their parents, Murray and brother Harold
continued operating the store until 1985.
Murray was very community minded. He was a
member of the Kinsmen Club and Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was
a volunteer driver and enjoyed curling. He also fixed many sewing machines and
bikes.
Murray leaves to mourn Betty, his wife of
59 years; children Glennda (Paul) Maatman, Melody Rostie, David (Jan) Lloyd,
Vaughn (Richelle) Lloyd; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren;
in-laws Dennis and Pat Lucki, Alice and Lynden Zimmer, Gerry and Rhonda Lucki
and Milton Schilling as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime
friends.
Murray was predeceased by his parents
Walter and Margaret Lloyd, his brother Harold, sister-in-law Janet, in-laws
Cliff and Margaret Lucki, brother-in-law Don Lucki, sisters-in-law Sheila Lucki
and Sandra Schilling.
The funeral service was held in Davidson
Sacred Heart Catholic Church on June 21, 2019. Bishop David Ashdown officiated
assisted by Rev. Tracy Taylor. Hanson’s Funeral Home of Davidson was in care of
arrangements.
For those so wishing,
memorial donations in memory of Murray may be directed to Davidson Fire
Department.
It is with great
sadness that the family of Linda Margaret Fink announces her passing on
December 15, 2018, at the age of 69. Linda will be forever lovingly remembered by her children, Gregory Fink (with his wife Yolanda), Jeffrey Fink and Cindy Linton (with her husband Peter).
Linda was immensely proud of her family and
leaves behind many beautiful memories for all who knew her. She is greatly
missed and fondly remembered by her six grandchildren (Deanna, John, Tim, Lily,
Ian and Kaylee) and her two great grandchildren (Vanessa and Landon).
Born to Emil and Elizabeth Ziefflie on
August 19th, 1949 in Davidson, Saskatchewan. Linda is survived by her Mother
(Elizabeth) as well as her four Sisters (Betty-Ann, Diane, Pat and Gayle) and
her Brother (Brian) and their respective families. Linda is also survived by
her sister in law (Pat) and brother in law (Francis) and their families. Linda
was predeceased by her loving husband John, infant daughter Vikki, her father
Emil Ziefflie, mother-in-law Blanche and father-in-law Alec Fink,
brothers-in-law (D. Hart and D. Kuemper), nieces (J. Dixon and C. Potter),
nephew (B. Kuemper), and great-nephew (C. Dixon).
As per Linda’s wishes no funeral was held
and cremation has already taken place. Linda did not want a lot of fuss made
over her passing and we ask that you remember her in your own way. Linda loved
being at the lake, cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders, her favorite
Edmonton Oilers and hanging out with her family. Those who wish to honour her
memory may send donations to any children’s charities or a charity of your own
choosing. Next time that you are at the lake, take a moment to think of just
how much she would love to be there with you as it was always a special place for
her.
Linda received
excellent care from her medical team during her short illness. The family would
like to thank her Doctors, the Fort Sask. Comm. Hospital staff, the Palliative
Nurses and the Rivercrest Palliative Care team.
