Henry Nicholas Siroski was born on Dec. 15, 1920. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Feb. 2, 2010.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Maizie; sons, Les (Pat), Barry and David (Susan); grandchildren, Jennifer (Jesse) Schneider, Shaleen (John Paul) Ross, Shannon (Mark) Thoner, Justin Siroski, Bradley (Andrea) Siroski, Tara (Jody) George, Jackie (Dallas) Loberg, Steven Siroski, Shelley (Tyler) Townsend, Sarah (Keith) Siroski, Shelby Siroski and Jillian Siroski; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Francis Masich; one brother-in-law; five sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Steve and Mary; his son, Don (Knotter) Siroski; five brothers and five sisters.
Henry spent his life as an active member of the Kenaston/Davidson community. He was a member of the Kenaston Credit Union board and the Kenaston Parish Council. He loved the land and farmed for 59 years. Church and his faith were a big part of his life. His family always came first and they will miss him dearly.
Prayers were held on Feb. 8, 2010 and the Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 9, 2010, both at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Davidson. Interment at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Kenaston, Sask.

It is with deep regret we announce the passing of Lorne Bennett Schollar (1937-2010) in Yellowknife on Jan. 23, 2010.
Lorne was born in Craik, Sask. At the age of 18, he joined the RCMP and his first posting was in Selkirk, Man. on Aug. 21, 1957. From there, Lorne had postings in the Yukon, Grise Fiord, Newfoundland and points in between. While in Trepassey, Newfoundland, he met and married his wife Joan St. Croix and started a family. Lorne moved his wife and daughter Geraldine to Yellowknife in August, 1976. His son Dale was born a month later. This would be Lorne’s last posting with the RCMP. He retired from the force in 1982 with 27 years of service.
Following retirement, he continued to work for local companies such as Esso, Secure Check, Expedite North and Snowfield Resources doing barge work with his friend Dave Smith. Lorne was an avid hunter and hunting guide. He guided many seasons at Point Lake Lodge. He was also fond of his sheep hunting expeditions in Norman Wells. Lorne gave of his time to committees and organizations such as the NWT and Canadian Wildlife Federations, NWT Mining and Heritage Society, Dry Grad, Northern Addictions and Food Rescue. He was very active in matters concerning the City of Yellowknife. Lorne will be fondly remembered and sadly missed as he touched the hearts of everyone he met.

• While vacationing at his favourite winter destination, Robert (Bob) S. Crowley passed away on January 20, 2010. Bob was born in Kenaston, Sask. in August of 1937 and when he was a young boy the family moved to Glenside, Sask. where Bob took his schooling and upon finishing he moved to Regina, where he worked at a few different careers until he started to travel for Fairview Chemicals, which took him across Western Canada. It was while Bob was travelling that he joined The Associated Canadian Travellers and here he met and made several good friends, whom he was in contact with until the very end. Once you were considered a friend of Bob’s, you were always a friend.
  In 1967 an opportunity arose for Bob to go into business with his brother Vince in the Husky Car/Truck Stop in Regina which he operated until 1986. During this time he ran other businesses, one of which was Wayne Shaw and Associates. He purchased a farm in Vibank, Sask. during this time as well, which is where he loved to be, working the land, watching the crops grow and his favourite time of year was the harvest. In 1988 Bob, Betty Lynn and Curtis moved to Davidson to operate the Halfway Husky Travel Centre and make their home. It was here that Bob worked until he retired in September, 2007.
  Bob enjoyed to the fullest his family, his grandchildren and being with friends. In later years his spare time was enjoyed by reading, gardening and travelling.
  Bob was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Sarah Crowley; two brothers, Vince and Bill; one sister-in-law, Roxie; as well as one great-grandson Damon Crowley and two brothers-in-law, Dan Riopka and Eric Conrod and parents-in-law, Ted (Vivian) Radke.
  Bob is survived by his soulmate and wife, Betty Lynn; one daughter, Wendy (Jamie Steinbach); three sons, Curtis (Karen), Kelly (Cindy) and Barry. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jason (Tina), Angela (Rod Rudnisky), Jennifer, Chris (Sharla), Cole, Sarah (Colin), Chad and Kaitlyn and five great-grandchildren, Abagail, Emily, Isabelle, Kayde and Kylah. Bob is survived by his sisters, Marlene Riopka, Pat (Ralph Wensley) and LaVerne Conrod; two brothers, Cliff Crowley and Don Crowley; sister-in-law Mary Crowley; brothers-in-law Ken (June) Radke and Garry (Heather) Radke as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
  A Celebration of Bob’s Life was held on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Davidson. The service was presided over by Rev. Father Joseph Gyim-Austin. The choir was in attendance, accompanied by organist Mary Jane Morrison. The Tribute to Bob’s life was given by long-time friend Wayne Shaw. Wendy, Curtis and Barry did a reflection of their Dad at the luncheon and Jason, Bob’s oldest grandchild also spoke about his Grandpa. Lunch was provided and served by the C.W.L.
  The family would like to thank everyone from near and far for being with us through this difficult time.

Frances Henrietta Ouellette (nee Murphy) November 13, 1927 – February 3, 2010.
Hetty died peacefully at the ICU in St. Paul’s Hospital, Saskatoon, Sask. on Feb. 3, 2010. She was born in Dodsland Hospital on Nov. 13, 1927, daughter of Fred and Frances Murphy. She was the sixth child in a family of ten. She attended Algoma School until Grade ten; then St. Joseph’s Convent at Rosetown for Grades 11 and 12, graduating in 1946.
In Feb. 1947 she went into training at St. Paul’s Hospital graduating in 1950. She used her nursing skills at Eatonia, Meadow Lake, Dodsland and Davidson, Sask. She was the matron of Davidson Hospital. At that time, she helped care for Corinne and Colleen Parks, a set of twins who needed lots of TLC before they could leave the hospital.
She was married on June 1, 1953 to Stan Ouellette at Kerrobert, Sask. They lived in Kenaston in several houses, at the Wopchall farm six miles west of Kenaston and finally into the Ouellette homestead house in 1963. Stan and Hetty had six children. The children enjoyed the convenience of living in town but were able to have the space and luxury of living on a farm because we had the barn to play in the loft and the pasture to ride horses and snare gophers.
Hetty returned to full-time nursing in 1968 to supplement the farm income and retired in 1991. Being a nurse in a small town is like being a doctor. She was always “on call” in Kenaston, when people needed her for sickness and accidents. In 1988 Hetty received the Heart of Gold award for outstanding service to her community.
Her husband Stan passed away in 1996. Hetty found this change very hard but in her usual strong-willed manner she moved forward. She continued to be present on the Community Housing Board. She was an active choir member at St. Andrews. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She will be fondly remembered for her dill pickles and apple butter. Her children and grandchildren were her joy and focus. Many a story can be told of memories of Mom and Grandma. Stan and Hetty Ouellette are survived by their children, Brian (Angelika), Greg (Carolyn), Cyndy (Claus) Spielmann, Kevin (Debra), Heather (Lorne) Lowdermilk and Colin (Cory) Ouellette; grandchildren, Jay, Dallas, Ryan, Amanda, Braden, Darren, Ellen, Timothy, Jesse, Riley, Ashley and Johnny; great-grandchildren, Taya and Gabriel; siblings, Isabelle, Josephine (Wilfred), Sister Irene, Mildred, Madge (Peter), Bud (Bernie) and Dennis (Helen); sister-in-law, Irene and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hetty is predeceased by her husband Stan; brothers, Wilfred and Patrick; and parents Fred and Frances Murphy.
A celebration of Hetty’s life was held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Parish in Kenaston, Sask. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation Inc., Saskatoon, Sask. or the St. Andrew’s Cemetery Fund.

Edward Duncan Spratt returned to the arms of his Lord on January 31. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Sarah Jane Spratt and Alfred Spratt who were overjoyed at his birth in Davidson on November 21, 1936.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Donna Spratt (nee Dobrowolsky); sister, Mary Catherine (Keith) Lindberg; daughters, Laura (Jeff) Dechka, Anna (Peter) Willis, Heather (Bill Dubreuil); grandchildren, Jennifer and Amy Dechka and Brook, Logan and Luke Willis; his cousins who were like siblings to him; sister-in-law, Bev (Kurtis) Maahs; countless friends and colleagues who Ed held very close to his heart.
Eddy grew up playing hockey and helping out on the farm. In 1958 he received his Bachelor of Science in agriculture from the University of Saskatchewan. He went on to receive his PhD in Soil Science at the University of London, England in 1968. During these years he was also a dedicated family man, having married Peggy McKeen and becoming a father to three girls by 1966. The family moved to Brandon Man. where he became a senior scientist at the Research Station. Edward was always learning and helping others. He started traveling the world and worked on projects in India, Egypt and Jamaica to name only a few. He worked at Sask. Potash Corp. ending his career with much consulting work in Saskatchewan and many parts of the world. His heart is in the land of Saskatchewan where he returned to his beloved farm in 1995, proud to farm it himself. Ed’s love of the land is profound. He wanted to share this passion with all and became chairman of the Three Rivers Trail Association and a director of the Sask. Trail Association.
He shared this passion with the love of his life, Donna, as well as horseback riding and the RV lifestyle always finding time to visit friends and family. Edward is also a very spiritual and religious man and an active member of the United Church. He was given the gifts of creativity and artistic talent which helped him express his love for God, the land and the world he loved.
Edward is a much-loved man who left an indelible legacy of knowledge and love. He touched so many lives and will be forever greatly missed. A service for Ed was held at McClure United Church, Saskatoon on Thursday, February 4, at 1:30 p.m.

Eunice Lillian Wunsch passed away peacefully on Jan. 24, 2010 at Circle Drive Special Care Home in Saskatoon. Eunice was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Wunsch in 1982; infant daughter, Penny Lee in 1957; parents, Henry and Lily Libke; brothers, Melvin Libke, Elmer (Tom) Libke, Lawrence Libke; sisters, Elsie Beaumont, Selma Jackson and Gladys Corbin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Maxine Libke, Norm Beaumont, Elmer Jackson, Ace Corbin, Ben and Florence Wunsch and Elmer and Theresa Wunsch.
Eunice is survived by her son, Jud (Rhonda) Wunsch; granddaughters, Treana Wunsch (Mike Gill), Sacha (Jamie) Whalen, Stacey (Mike) Hertz, Lindsay Wunsch (Mike Dale); brothers, Lester Libke and Lloyd (Gwen) Libke; sister-in-law, Anne (Melvin) Libke, Anne (Tom) Libke and Hazel (Lawrence) Libke; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eunice was born on the Libke family farm south of Dundurn on Dec. 21, 1914. She married Gordon Wunsch in 1943. They resided in Hanley and farmed until Gordon passed away suddenly in 1982. Eunice continued to live in their home in Hanley until the fall of 2006. Because of poor health, she moved to a special care facility in Saskatoon. Eunice loved curling and cooking for her family and friends (grandma cookies were her specialty!) and looking after and being around her four granddaughters who she was so proud of.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Hanley United Church or Circle Drive Special Care Home, Saskatoon.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Hanley United Church, which was officiated by Rev. Andrew Appledore.
