It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Carl Palmer of Hanley, Sask., on January 26, 2011 at the young age of 46.
Carl was born August 22, 1964 in Saskatoon. He was predeceased by his father, Merrill (1996); brother, Warren (2009); grandparents, Lew and Alice Palmer and Roy and Edith Shields.
Carl is survived by his sons, Keith and Shawna and grandson Braysen of Edgerton, Alta., Kevin and Audrey of Saskatoon, Kyle of Saskatoon; mother, Fern Palmer of Davidson; sister, Donna (Perry) Harbicht of Rosetown; brothers, Dwight and Neil (Sharon) of Bladworth; nieces, Jolene (Shane) Hunter, Lisa and Tracy Harbicht; nephews, Scott (Heather), Mike (Kelly), Chris (Ronnel), Don, Tim (Crystal) and Travis.
Carl attended school in Davidson where he completed his grade 10. After school, Carl worked for Hamre Motors, R.M. of Willner, Puckett and Doell Construction and the R.M. of Rosedale where he was currently employed. Carl was an active member of the Hanley Elks Club. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked.
The Celebration of Carl’s Life Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 2 p.m. from the Hanley Centennial Community Hall, Hanley, Sask. with Rev. Diane Eurig officiating.
Interment at a later date. For friends so wishing, memorials in memory of Carl may be directed to the Hanley Elks Club or to the Hanley Curling Club.

• Norman James Adam (June 9, 1916—February 3, 2011)
  Norm passed away February 3 at the Luther Care Home in Saskatoon. Norm was born in Davidson on June 9, 1916. He attended school in Davidson. His father passed away in 1928 when he was 12. They lived on the farm north of Davidson and eventually he took it over and continued farming for 40 years. On April 5, 1941 he married Gladys Woodman and they had two children, Douglas and Linda Adam. He loved to play ball and fish in the summer. He was once the proud winner of a fishing derby at Last Mountain Lake with a 25 pound jackfish. In the early years he broke many horses and used horses for his farm work until he was able to purchase his first tractor. He enjoyed farming, growing many crops and also had livestock for many years. This included running the Davidson dairy in the war years, and later a chicken layer operation, hog and commercial cow/calf operation. Dad and mom always enjoyed visiting with their many friends and family. He was very active in the community. He served ten years on the Davidson School Board, a number of years on the United Church Board and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also 15 years with the Paul Revere Insurance company at which time he reached top salesman in Canada.
  He will be lovingly remembered by his son Doug (Elaine) and family, Brenda Frank, Christopher and Robyn of Saskatoon; Terri (Kevin) Nixey, Cole and Cameron of Warman; Tanya (Lea) Adam of Germany; Jana Hansen, Lee, Darby and Trenton of Wynyard and Cory Penner, Joel of Saskatoon; daughter Linda (Bill) Pipke and family, Stephanie (David) Pipke Painchaud, Sadie of Tisdale; Vanessa (Tyler) Mack, Brook, Madison and Cole of Meota.
  His memorial service was held in the Davidson United Church, Davidson, Sask. on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 2 p.m.
  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Arthritis Society.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Willy Rempel on January 31, 2011 at the age of 75. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Maria, his stepmother Nellie, his brother Henry, sister-in-law Dorothy and brother-in-law Jack. He is survived by his sisters Justina, Kay, Marion (John) and Rita (Frank); his brothers Frank (Sue), John (Lee) and Jake; his four sons Derle, Ken, Tom, Jerry (Colyn) and his daughter Wanda (Rick) and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members.

The death of Gladys Marion McJannet, born at her Hanley farm on February 18, 1922, occurred in Swift Current Regional Hospital on the morning of Monday, December 20, 2010. The funeral service was held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from Hanley Lutheran Church conducted by Pastor Harley Johnson.
Surviving are her three sons, Les (Barbara) Bohrson of Swift Current, Gordon (Dyanne) Bohrson of Calgary, Martin (Donna) Bohrson of Hanley; her daughter Pastor Kristin (Douglas) Soveran of Swift Current; her brother, Lewis (Hilda) Duddridge of Victoria; her stepchildren, John (Fay) McJannet, Diane (Gordon) Taylor, Donna (John) Spilchak and Robert (June) McJannet, all of Davidson. Also surviving are twenty-two grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, plus numerous nieces, nephews and family members. Gladys was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Ethel Duddridge, her brother, Leonard (Lillian) Duddridge, and her beloved husbands, Tom Bohrson and John McJannet.
Gladys was a life-long learner and teacher. She completed high school at Hanley and graduated in 1941 from Saskatoon Normal School. Gladys provided great leadership in community 4H, sports, cultural and history programs. Her first love was farming, a passion shared with her parents and husbands and their families. From 1983 through 1992, she welcomed the world, ten young farmers for eight-month immersions in Canada, sponsored by the International Agricultural Exchange Association. Since 2007 strokes and vascular dementia forced her to seek care, most recently as a resident of the Cypress Health Region’s Prairie Pioneers Lodge in Swift Current. Interment will take place in the family plot at Hanley Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are in care of Hanson’s Funeral Home of Davidson. Laura Roberts, formerly of Kenaston, Sask., passed away at the Davidson Health Centre on Jan. 8, 2011, seven days before her 100th birthday. She was born on Jan. 15, 1911 to Albert and Laura Mills at Spanish River, Ont. She moved with her family to the Kenaston district in 1918.
Laura was predeceased by her husband Jack Roberts in 1964; parents Albert and Laura Mills, brother Hilmer (Bud) Mills and sister Marion Mills.
She is survived by her son Wayne (Marlene) Roberts; four grandchildren Cheryl (Murray) McLellan, Susan (Garry) Haduik, Rod Roberts and Patti (Dale) Firby; eleven great-grandchildren Blair, Derek and Braiden McLellan; David, Kyle (Lindley) and Lynsae Haduik; Jordon and Kaitlynne Roberts; Dayna, Sarah and Cassie Firby; also sister-in-law Mabel Mills; niece Shirley (Dave) Peter and their family at Dartmouth, N.S. The funeral service was held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 2 p.m. from Kenaston Place, Kenaston, Sask. with Rev. Blair Dixon (Anglican) officiating.
Pianist was Darla Collins, scripture readers were Cheryl McLellan, Susan Haduik and Patti Firby. The tribute was given by Murray McLellan. A special selection, “Amazing Grace” was played by Derek and Braiden McLellan, Laura’s great-grandsons. Other favorite hymns were “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”, “Christ Arose” and “Precious Lord Take My Hand”. Ushers were Garry Haduik and
Dale Firby. Attending the register were Muriel Wilson and Lynda Pillipow. Honorary pallbearers were all friends who shared in Laura’s life journey. Active pallbearer was Rod Roberts. Interment will take place at a later date in the family plot, Kenaston Community Cemetery, Kenaston, Sask. Hanson’s Funeral Home, Davidson, Sask. were in charge of arrangements.

Louise Anna (Kowalski) Sinnett went to meet the Lord September 18, 2010 at the Davidson Health Centre. Mom was born, raised and educated in Kenaston and area, except for a three-year period in the 1930s when the Frank Kowalski family moved to the Sinnett area, where she met her future husband Lawrence.
Mom will be greatly missed by: Larry (Pat) Sinnett, Reginald Sinnett, Robert (Bob) Sinnett, Margaret (Ken) Johnson and Lauraine (George) Tucker; grandchildren: James Sinnett, Donna (Marcel) Simpson; Nicole (Mike) Davis, Leanne Sinnett; Bradley (Joanna) Johnson, Michael (Pam) Johnson, Ryan (Jolene Hildebrand) Johnson; David (Laura) Tucker, Tammy (Shane) Franks, Bryan Tucker; great-grandchildren: Tyson, Brent and Jaeden Simpson; Mackenzie and Danica Davis; Mickail, Ethan, Samuel and Damien Johnson; Fox and Zen Tucker; Christina, Tyler and Wade Franks; Anthony, Sonya, Kody and Keegan Tucker; sister: LaVern (Mal) Land; sisters-in-law: Ann Kowalski, Rose Paproski; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Margaret (Began) Kowalski; brothers: Lynwood, Leo, Lorne and Les; sister: Lenora Tallon and husband: Lawrence.
Mom’s first priority was always family and she really got to enjoy all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved her flowers and took great pride in her Hollyhocks. She was always working in her garden. Mom enjoyed when company came over to visit and play cards and you could never leave without at least a meal or some of her delicious baking and tea.
Mom liked travelling with Dad as long as at least one foot was within two feet of the ground. They would visit friends and relatives in the northern states and western Canada; renewing many relationships.
Prayer service was at St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church in Kenaston on Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. and the celebration of her life was on Sept. 22, also at St. Andrew’s Church at 11:00 a.m.
