Caroline Gail Morgan

Carrie, was born September 24, 1952 in Kelvington, SK to Roy and Florence Morgan. She started life in Nut Mountain and the family later moved to Davidson. Carrie also spent some time living with her sister Joan and family in Archerwill, where she attended high school.

Carrie worked alongside her mother for Saskatchewan Wheat Pool as a cook. She also cooked for a while at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. She did a couple of stints in local restaurants as a cook before she began her job at the Co-op. Carrie started working for the Kenaston Co-op in 1984 and worked there until 2013.

Carrie met her life partner, Dave Oshachuk, when her older brother Wes brought him home with him one weekend. They were together for the next 50 years. During this time, they spent summers camping and visiting with family and friends. Their dog, Lisa, accompanied them on all these trips. She was a very important part of their family.

Carrie enjoyed a night out at Bingo and took the opportunity to play whenever she could. Carrie’s love of socializing included playing cards with the neighbours, relaxing around the fire pit and enjoying a beer or more. Kinsmen Telemiracle was an important event for Carrie. She would stock up on snacks and settle in for the full twenty hours.

Sadly, in February of 2013 Carrie suffered a stroke which forced her from her home. She spent some time in Outlook before a spot became available in Davidson. This move brought her closer to Dave and friends. Even though her ability to communicate was affected by the stroke, she still enjoyed visiting with family and friends and hearing about all their comings and goings.

In September of 2022 a 70th birthday party was held for Carrie at the home. She enjoyed seeing the family and friends who were there to celebrate with her, and the pumpkin pie birthday cake (with whipped cream of course).

Carrie was predeceased by her parents Roy and Florence Morgan; brother Wes; sisters Del Scheurman, Joan Hagenes and Lee Pallog; brothers-in-law Ron Hamilton, Lloyd Scheurman, Clarence Hagenes, and Bill Humilowich. She was also predeceased by Dave’s parents Pete and Doris Oshachuk; sister-in-law Sheila Medwid; brothers-in-law Fred Oshachuk and Nelson Craigie.

Carrie will be sadly missed by her partner Dave Oshachuk; sister Janette Hamilton; brothers Albert (Connie) and Miles Morgan; sister-in-law Linda Hunt; brothers-in-law Barry (Twyla), Tony (Ann) and Eric (Lori) Oshachuk; sisters-in-law Rose Craigie and Sharon Kowalchuk; and numerous nieces, nephews and both great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Edwin John Kammer

July 31, 1952 – March 13, 2023

We are saddened by the loss of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Ed passed away on his beloved farm. He was deeply loved and will be missed dearly. He was a dedicated rancher who loved to be nowhere else but on his farm with his horses near Davidson.

Ed married Maureen Morrison in 1977. They both welcomed their son Mylo in 1979. In 1985 Ed and his family moved to Rocky Mountain House where he worked as a logger for 8 years. In 1993 Ed was happy to be able to buy his farm and return to Saskatchewan. Ed had always used his horses in farming and chores. He always had at least 3 horses at all times. He always enjoyed going on trail rides with his family. Ed had the belief in the promised hope of being reunited with his loved ones in the paradise.

Ed is survived by his son Mylo, his daughter in law Janel and his two grandchildren Felix and Millie. His siblings Lorne Cammer, Marjorie Cammer, Patricia Cammer, Cathy (Bob) Siroski, Sheila Cammer, Peter (Diane) Cammer, Marty (Deb) Cammer and many nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his parents Peter and Margaret Cammer, his sister Maureen Brown and his wife Maureen.

Our gentle, kind and loving Ed will truly be missed. The funeral for Ed was held Saturday, April 1 in Davidson. Arrangements were in the care of Hanson’s Funeral Home of Davidson.

FRANCIS ELIZABETH ”lenore”

With great sadness, we announce that Frances Elizabeth “Lenore” Edom (Edmonds) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, March 30, 2023, in the Davidson Health Centre.

Lenore will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but especially by her much loved children Gary (Karen) Edom, Rick (Norma) Edom and Wendy (Steve) Bareham; her grandchildren Sheri (Donnie) Emling, Alison (Scott) Judd, and Joanne Edom (Jordie Gagnon); and great-grandchildren Benjamin and Emerson Maunder, Louis Judd, Sophie, Sam, and Gus Tyndall, and Beck Gagnon. She also leaves to mourn her loss, her brother George (Evelyn) Edmonds, and sister-in-law Esther Edmonds as well as many nieces and nephews. Lenore was predeceased by her husband Harry, parents Bessie and George Edmonds, brothers Harold (Joyce), Henry, and Clayton Edmonds, sister-in-law Elsie Edmonds, brother-in-law Roger Edom and parents-in-law Maud and Henry Edom.

Lenore was born in Major, Sask. on October 27th, 1924, to Bessie and William Edmonds. She was the only daughter, surrounded by three older and one younger brother. She grew up on a homestead two miles north of Major. Her mother, a nurse, was very busy outside the home tending to the sick and injured in the area, so Lenore was often “the woman” of the house. She found great joy helping to raise her younger brother George, and when her older brothers went to fight in the 2nd world war, she worked in the fields with her dad. Growing up in the “dirty 30s” taught her the importance of friends, family and helping others less fortunate than herself.

Lenore followed in her mom’s footsteps and trained as a nurse in the Regina General Hospital. Upon her graduation in 1947, she moved to Davidson, thinking a small town was the ideal place to work and save enough money to travel and see the world. But the world became no bigger than Davidson when she met Harry and married him on October 20th, 1948. She and Harry bought the Men’s Wear store from W.A. Speedie. Harry ran the store while she helped at the hospital. Lenore particularly loved to work in the operating room and often poured ether or scrubbed for surgeries.

In 1954 they sold that business and went into partnership with Pat Eddie to buy the Midway Store. The family moved to live above the store where they raised their three children Gary, Wendy, and Rick. They settled down as a happy family creating many wonderful memories. Summers were spent at Etter’s Beach, as Lenore didn’t want her children playing beside the busy Highway 11 and main street of Davidson. Although Harry worked in the store all summer, he came every Wednesday afternoon and Sunday to spend time with the family on his days off.

But there were tough times too, like when Lenore caught polio in 1952. Fortunately, she recovered, only slightly maimed, although post-polio syndrome caused her a lot of pain and suffering in her later years.

Lenore was active in the UCW, the Eastern Star and Hospital Aid. She was known as a kind, loving and compassionate woman. She willingly helped anyone in need and always put her family’s needs and aspirations ahead of her own. She gave up her nursing career to help the man she loved run a busy store. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are her most treasured legacy and she will live on in our hearts forever.

A family grave-side service will be held at a later date.

For those so wishing, memorial donations in memory of Lenore may be directed to the Davidson Health Trust Fund, cheques payable to the Town of Davidson.
